Saying goodbye to 2004 as we embark into 2005...
time really flies.. we all have finally embarked on our new journey in the year 2005.. during yesterday's cg, a question was prompted.. 'how have had a happy new day on new day day?'.. a silence was all that was provided..
just recalled our christmas eve celebration at linah's place on christmas eve.. all of us were having so much fun.. even though some of us were involved in the christmas service choir performance the next morning, which we need to reach church by 8.30am.. i dreaded going home cos i wanted so much that i could have stayed there longer to join in the fun.. but i was a great christmas that i've had.. me, xue fen, cheryl, jon, liwei, yongfu n kelvin among others were there.. i'm realy glad that they came.. really thank God for that..
had to wake up early the next day to get ready for the performance.. had dinner with jon's family on that evening..
the next day on sunday, 26 dec, the whole church held a water baptism day cum family day at east coast park where both william, andrew and his family were getting baptised on that day.. everyone were there by ard 10am.. Water baptism ceremony taken place shortly.. after which is the time of enjoyment for everyone.. ppl were eating, cycling, playing, enjoying themselves.. but little did we thought that the devastated tsumanis disaster struck almost every little land near the india straits at ard 10am.. the s'pore is the only island which is not affect.. ppl were saying that if the epi center had shifted by 2 degrees, s'pore would have been affected.. putting it into deep though, if s'pore was affect, all the covenantors by the beach would have been swept away by the sea.. but it didnt happen.. we're all saved, by the grace of God.. on that particular morning, jacob, one of our bro, was actually saying that he felt disaster so serious that have killed 160,000 lives up till today.. how many ppl have lost their precious loved one to the devastated tsunami just because the country were too poor to install detector system to warn them in advance that a tsunamis is coming.. imagine how many lives would have been saved if they've done something abt it.. blame it to the uneven distribution of wealth.. but this is not the key issue now anymore..
a sis questioned something that anyone would have questioned in our mind.. why is this happening? why would God allow this to happen? why is He allowing so many lives to be lost to this disaster? but for me, i chose not to ponder abt this question.. cos i believe God have a plan for everyone.. everything happens for a reason.. its the lesson that all of us to learn from it the most critical issue.. many of us thought abt how many lives that have been lost.. but how abt those who survived it and those who lost their loved ones to the disaster? i believe helping them to get over what'd happened is the most important thing.. some of us might blame all this being God's doing, but among all this, did they ever thought of how God have saved us, particularly in s'pore , and of how He'd miraculously saved an Indian man who've been saved by a pack of food which have apparently by miracle swam to him, after him clinging on a tree on flooded water?
To me, 2004 have been a very tearing as well as a very spiritual filled yr.. God have used so many events to make it obvious to me that i have to love my loved ones before i dont have any chance to do so.. that He have once again make it so clear to me thru the tsunamis disaster.. no one can predict what would happen the next seconds, that ur loved one may just leave u without any warning.. this was indeed proven to be so true.. ppl lost their loved ones to the disaster n they nv got the chance to say how much they loved them..
i saw a note during my lunch time at kkh on the notice board one day, 'when u wake up the next morning, n u find urself breathing, congratulations, u've got another chance..' some of the staff were making fun of the note.. one saying, another chance to pay hp bills?? but in view of the tsunamis event, it's indeed another chance to love our loved ones!
dear bros, sis n friends, our walking on this journey is unpredictable.. God have always wanted us to be a channal of blessings to everyone.. be it ur family, friends, even someone we dont really like.. i pray that even in the event of the disaster, we'll all continue to stand in our faith and be still to say that He is still our God.. will find rest in He presence.. that He's in control of everything.. God bless everyone..
Still
Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand
When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are god
Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust
