My 1st cooking: Laksa!
I remembered that my only decent meal that I 'really' cooked by myself, apart of the cereal tarts that I've made partially successful cos I do not have an oven, was when I was in secondary 2 for Home Econs!
Its not that I do not want to learn cooking, its because I dont have the time to! But I chanced upon a blog which blogs all the meals that she'd cooked and it really triggered me a bit. And you know why? Its really easy! As easy as ABC...=P
All thanks to Prima Taste.. (Love it..)
And so this was where it leads to one fine day.....
I went marketing (for the 1st time) to get all the ingredients that was needed.. I couldnt find the Prima Taste premix.. I was quite disapppointed and decided that by hook by crook I'm going to get it during my lunch hour the next day.. And I really did..
It was actually a surprise for Kenneth cos he's been nagging me to learn but I never did.. =P
Here's what I've got:-
1) Fish balls
2) Fish cakes
3) Tou pok
4) Prawns
5) Bean sprout
6) Yellow noodles
7) Prema Taste Laksa Premix
8) Lime for hand squeezed lime juice (with lots if Vitamin C)
That's all!
I'm really sorry that I didnt take any photos during the process of cooking as it was a 1 man show and my first time doing this.. So no time to take photo.. I gave myself about an hour to cook, but amazingly it only took me half an hour! Cant you believe it? I cant.. Haha.. Never really cook before la.. =X
Anyway, here's the laksa gravy. Are you drooling yet? I am! =P
Here comes the noodles......
Before serving... waiting for Kenneth to come..
Ta dah! Ready to be eaten! Cant wait!
He's my official food taster. I really thank God that it's good and edible. Cos he's having an exam the next day! Phew!
I proudly presents to you, Cyvia's Laksa! =)
Sincerity in men
It's been a both enjoyable and difficult year ever since I've started my new job for the past 1 yr. One thing that I can thank God for is really a boss whom I really admire. A humble servant of God, a fatherly figure at home, an honorable scientist in the working world. Having working in this organisation for the past year, I've learnt alot about what God said about humbling ourselves, despite our status because afterall, we're the same in the eyes of the Lord.
However, it's been a really disheartening to say that there are still christians out there who are not able to put down their self and continue to boast about status, unwilling to acknowledge that all honors goes to God. God calls for a sincere heart towards people. For non-christians, I 'may' be able to understand cos they've not found God's love. But for christians, its... sorry i'm at loss of words...
I feel that the world most scary ppl are those who are not sincere in their doings.. Example? Ppl who put on an act as if they are very friendly, but it is otherwise in their hearts.. Ppl who look down on ppl of lower status.. Someone who are very superficial, whom you can never know what exactly they are thinking..
I'm pretty much affected by one such person in my work place.. I strived to do my best and keep the 'just let it be' thinking whenever I thought of this person, I kept a verse from the bible on my desktop to remind myself that I should be a good servant to the one whom he'd anointed in my work place. I tried to talked over it with my colleagues and church friends.. But this have always been an issue that has been bothering me.. Why? It drains me emotionally in the midst of doing my best for that person, but I dont feel appreciated, I feel insecure, and I am emotionally drained.. I almost shed tears when I recount the uneasy incidents that I've encountered over the past years.. The encouraging thing is, though unfortunate, is that many ppl felt the same way as I did..
I've several thought of leaving the organisation, but I just couldnt bear to cos of my other boss.. He's a boss whom you cant find everywhere.. I heard alot of working stories about backstabbings, but he is someone who is in contrast to the former.. What more can one ask for? Thats what has been keeping me staying on.. However, being the case that I'll need to work with the other really makes me uneasy.. How how?
There is other opportunities that I'm opened to, to serve as a full time children cum youth worker in church, to look for a position in kindergartens as teachers.. Afterall, my passion is still to work with the children.. And I can find so much joy when I see the smile on those children..
However, I really dont know and I'm praying for God's direction. Do pray for me if you are still reading this..
I thank God that He'd sent me several friends whom I can share this burden with..
Lord, I know You are close.. Pls grant me the wisdom that I need..
